first dry run!

20Oct08

Today, went back to school to do first dry run for OP after binding our WR. Was quite fun, best part was waiting for Meiling’s pathetic laptop to fully load. Even Ms Koh was sian-ned away waiting for the thing to load.

“Patience is a virtue.” hahahaha

But it was not too bad. Very thankful to Hui yong’s PW group (hui yong, edwin, yanjun, berfie and jiaying) for sitting in for our OP. I know you guys can go other places to do your PW stuff, but really thanks for sitting in.

Overall was good lah. Before training spent the time slacking and surfing the web on my Mac as Berfie lamented about his 3 year old Dell XPS laptop, photoshopping graphs for their WR(that tickled me)(note: its not fabricating results, its adding captions).

Then training was horrible. Dead tiring. Run the road which my mum used to drive me from Nanyang to Nan Hua for two years. Took heart rate, turned out to be pathetic (too fast). Then did some insane stretching before and after the run, and got a pretty sweet comment that my core is pretty non-existent. (more of, like jelly, according to Ms Coach)

That cracked the long dis team up. Only which ten turned out for training. Four guys. (me, Pravie, Lawrence and Ashwyn)

Talk about sadness, man.

Going to sleep. Dead tiring training, I told you.

one week flies

19Oct08

Wow. One week since I last updated? That’s long.

Time flies quick.

Training is MUCH better than I thought. Mr Irwan made us do a 2.4km on Tue for everybody in Track and Field… that was such a “sian” moment, but I didn’t degrade as much as I thought, did a relatively decent 9:20, but of course we are “supposed” to drop to 8:30 by end of year.

Results-wise, I did horribly for Promos, and it was my common test that pulled me up. Quite pleased with my results, as my goal for the start of this year (and especially given that my L1R5 is probably in the bottom 10% of the J1 cohort – appeal caseeee) was to be eligible to take H3 subjects, as you gotta be pretty good to take H3 right? That was what I thought… and turns out I can BARELY take H3… so I’m glad.

And so I applied for MOE H3 Econs.

Then its PW stuff after Wed. Loads of WR editing, finalising, and OP stuff as well. Took loads of photos with the Mac when doing nothing… and I love this photo so much:

Cool huh? I am seriously happy to be in such a nice group. :)

Open day was not bad, was a usher-turned-tour-guide, showed parents of P6 kids around the place. Can’t imagine those little people are going to wear full grey next year… it’s a little surreal.

The coming week will fly past quickly too.

Maybe I’ll update soon. :)

training

12Oct08

Ahhhh… Training resumes tomorrow! So *sigh* with it. The thought of breathlessness and pure fatigue floats into my mind. Have this feeling that I need motivation to do training man… previously the motivation was that Nats was lousy, must buck up for next year, blah blah, but given the long break in between, the feeling of not exerting energy was kind of refreshing.

So the sian feeling kicks in. Wonder how training will be like, you know the first training session. And apparently national track and field is on April next year. Coaches and track teachers may not be very pleased with that but I sure am (results-wise) and my parents are glad about it too.

It is a known fact that I go to NJ for A levels and not to run. Though it is track that got me into NJ in the first place. So yeah, conflict of interests, kind of.

It’ll all be over by May next year…

Hope training will be okay tomorrow. (and results okay on Wed, that is nerve wrecking)

Perfect view

$0 view outside Marina Square steps, Singapore GP Warmup sessions 2008.

Zero bucks for amazing view. Doubt this view will be available next year as Singapore GP organisers rush to cover these loopholes (literally).

I’m alive

29Sep08

Yes, only post for September I’m sure. So ‘proud’ of it.

So this post is what I can remember from the end of Aug and the whole month of Sep!

Teachers’ Day Celebrations
Oh this is marvelous. First off in the day had this cool class picnic thing at parade square. Something NH can think of implementing if the classes weren’t so big in the first place. And kudos to SC for getting all the food stuff at affordable prices with such large quantity.

After seemingly boring stuff we (ie some trackers) went to parade square to do some teachers day thing for our dear track teachers. And guess what I saw.

Wow? Thats like Qiulin unlike anything I would expect Qiulin to wear.

I look stupid in that photo. Then took a pic with Lynette! Heh. Love the contrasting heights here.

Then the NJ 404 people went back to Nan Hua. Saw this real cute thing at Ms Poon’s table:

Mmm all Toblerone fans can identify with that. Also saw a $97 students offer for Adobe CS3 Web Premium and snapped a pic. Little did I know my aunt would give me that as a gift. So glad. Offer’s still on, it’s seriously a good deal and has Acrobat 9. (Though CS4 looks cool too) Go to mine.com.sg [Heard that the Malaysian offer was Adobe CS3 Design Premium; would love that suite more than Web Premium cuz I don’t need Contribute CS3)

Next day… 31.8.08
Nike+ Human Race 10k

This is really cool. Ben Huang and I signed up for this thing together, cause this thing is really cool. 1 million runners run on the same day… and its blardy cheap too. $26.75 for nike bottle, unique shirt (i like my unique number), loads of free 100plus, and icing on the cake, boys like girls, first time live in asia.
Some pics…

It was great. Edmund, Adrian and Usarin were there too.

Jack and Rai. Awesome group from Singapore… in stores now! (yep, first album I bought ever). If you like soulful music, you’ll probably like ‘em. Fa la la away!

BLG :D simply amazing.

Great day. I like. Seeing 11,000 red ‘ants’ together running, joining 989,000 others around the world, is something that will not be forgotten so easily, me thinks.

Other stuff I probably forgot. Normal school stuff.
KPE Swing Run
Underground KPE opens to public to run. This family event was quite fun. Didnt like the shirt much though. Walking in tunnel was cool with LTA blasting their safety messages inside the tunnel. Ventilation was quite bad though.

Mid Autumn
Nothing much. Just blabbing over this… I like snowskin mooncakes. Good that our family still follows this traditional thing… some families dont really care anymore.
F1 Singapore GP
This funky thing that came to Singapore and finished yesterday… was really cool. First night race, blah blah. Family and I went down on Friday to try to sneak some peeks, and turned out that our view was marvellous, I think better than those who paid. Heh. Took video. For some reason my Mac’s bluetooth not working so can’t upload. Maybe next time.

That’s all. Promos was horrible. Track’s starting soon.

Hope you’re glad I finally updated.

seriously. my tagboard is becoming a chatroom and commentary area all in one.

qiulin: thanks for treating this blog as your notice board. the vietnam one cracked me up. and i want that photo ):

alwyn: and it still is unchanged (your hairstyle). and yes, i’ve updated.

tiffy: hi. how you know this place?!

passerby: wonder how you passerby-ed this place. haha :) i forgot price, got it from my friend.

alfonsus: the way you typed… you make me wonder if its of jealousy or something? if you are a tracker then obviously we are of no threat to you or your school. so don’t need to spend four tags stating your point that nj track team is not so good. either way, if you do know me in person i hate hostilities, so i’ll leave it as that.
